Philips HDR 1000 ... The Hard Disk Recorder has a built-in DVD-Video player.

The hard disc allows to record and playback simultaneously. Thanks to this the consumer can playback his recordings any time he likes, even before the end of the recording; pause live TV when being interrupted or replay a scene he just saw live again and again. This makes the consumer free from TV schedules as he selects what to watch at the time that it is most convenient for him.

Up to 38h recordings can be made just by pressing a button, there is no need to look for blank media. Finding a recording for playback is more convenient than ever before. An on-screen navigation menu automatically shows a list of the available recordings, and the Instant Preview feature allows any recording to be previewed with just a touch of a remote control button. Resume allows playback of any recording to be automatically restarted where it was last paused.

The Philips HDR1000 is designed primarily for this kind of temporary recording of programs that consumers want to see later. However, if consumers record programs on the HDR1000 and later decide they want to store them for a longer period, or add them to their collections, they can easily be transferred to an external medium simply by connecting the HDR1000 to an external VCR or DVD Recorder.

Next to its built-in hard disk recorder, the HDR1000 also incorporates a DVD-Video player. This makes it the ideal combination unit for viewing TV programs when consumers want to see them, as well as for playing pre-recorded movies with the superb digital picture and sound quality of DVD.
