Good DVD player that's very portable.
Member Name: MamaC
Advantages: Good quality, excellent picture and sound
Disadvantages: Battery didn't last that long.
It was the 2009 summer holidays and we were off camping for a few weeks. It's gets harder to entertain your kids as they become older. But what an ideal way to keep them quiet with a portable DVD player that you can take where ever you go. Normally our eldest watches his favourite programmes via the laptop, but this gets a bit much to carry around now. My friend recommended this product as she has two of them that have had a great deal of use over the years. Long gone are the days where a bat and ball or board game will entertain your child sadly.
So we ordered this one from Amazon.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX:
THE portable DVD player
DC 9V power adaptor
1 x AV Cable
Englsih user manual
Cigarette adaptor, 12v DC and pouch
The LCD screen is a good size - 7 inches and you can watch anything from DVD/DivX encoded movies, MP3s, music from your CDs and watch a slideshow of your favourite JPEG photo's. The screen is in 16:9 widescreen format and the colour is simply amazing. It's well lit and there's no cloudiness or banding. The sound is good although not that brilliant and you also have the option to plug a pair of headphones in by using the 3.5mm input on the front.
The battery last for 2 hours before it needs a recharge, which is pretty good, but I would have expected it to lasted longer. If you have a cigarette lighter in the car then you're sorted as you can plug it in without using the battery up. When the battery is running low you'll notice a warning light at the top left to the screen, which can be really annoying if you're still watching a movie. We did realise after a few months of owning this that you can plug a second pair of headphones into the unit via the TV output socket.
Navigating your way around the machine is ok but not brilliant as the controls are a little hard to see on the buttons.
Build quality is good but ours has since broke through one of the kids dropping it. Such as shame as the unit has had a lot of use over the years. Will definitely be purchasing another one next year.
Purchased from Currys for £60 5 years ago.
Summary: Great, portable little machine that will keep the kids quite for a while.
