	Philips DVP3980 ... I moved to University I thought it would be a good idea to buy a new T.V and DVD player. As technology is moving fast I decided to buy this Philips DVP3980 DVD player for £49.99 From Currys. What is so special about this DVD player? Well apart from being cheap, this Philips DVD player has an HDMI connection on its back, which enables the DVD player to upscale the resolution to a real 1080p high definition (HD). The TV I bought had 720p, therefore the DVD player up scales to 720p when connected with an HDMI cable. The picture quality is very impressive and rather clear compared to standard TV. 	Philips DVP5960 ... ve had this dvd/divx player for a while now and would recommend it to anyone I ve had no problems playing any variation of xvid/avi/divx or mpeg file either on disc or via the usb port Firmware upgrades are available via the Philips website Anyone buying this model I recommend you google for a site called phunkyfish - there s a lot of useful information on there about this player and some non-philips firmware packs which may be useful if you play divx. I personally have installed the Porkupan Firmware and find the additional features really useful. This player does everything I want and more and suits my needs brilliantly.
