A continual fan of Samsung, with mobile phone, laptop, and TV already in our household, we bought this DVD player following another upscaler that gave up after just a few weeks. And we're pleased as punch that we ended up with this one. Great picture, good sound quality, easy to use, and looks sleek and sophisticated, matching my Samsung LCD television. From kids cartoons to action packed adventure movies, this DVD player gives me a really great, sharp, quality picture.
Without the conventional line of operating buttons, my toddler hasn't yet figured out how to work the player, thus ensuring a reasonable life span for this player - unlike the Yamaha amp we'd bought! It really seems quite robust.
A range of formats play back through this player, and we find that really useful. All in all, we couldn't be happier with it, and would recommend to anyone looking for an upscaler on a budget. Good quality for the money you'll pay.
If you want a HD DVD player this isn't the one to get, although there isn't really anything wrong with it it just isn't all that great. I looks lovely and matches the current range of samsung LCD TV's so you can co-ordinate you entertainment system if you currently own a Samsung TV. The remote is a mini version of the TV remote and has all the usual features, and unlike some DVD players now it still has an eject button. The HDMI port allows for upscaling DVD's though it doesn't produce full HD so i wouldn't get it if you want the full HD effect of DVD's. The timer/display is quite small and not very clear and the power button standby light is too bright it actually lights up the area around it. But really this is just nit picking like I said there isn't really anything wrong with it. Personally I wish I had just waited a little longer and bought a more expensive model, but I'm stuck with it now and will never really be satisfied, so I recommend to you all to hold off on buying this and save for a more expensive model with all the latest features.
We seem to get through DVD players in our house like there is no tomorrow. Either they end up with toast stuffed in them or they refuse to play half of our DVDs because there's a speck of dust on them. I think this is either the 3rd or 4th DVD player that we have had to buy in the last few years. What we decided we were after this time was something by a decent company. that didn't cost the Earth and looked fairly robust!
We purchased this DVD player from comet's website, it's priced at £69.99. I like Samsung products in general but hadn't tried a DVD player from them before so we thought we'd give them a go. What really sold it for us was the Divx playback feature.
The dimensions are 50.5x24.0x24.3(H/W/D)cm
This DVD player will play just about anything, DVDs, CDs, VCD, MP3s, CDRW, DVD-R , DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW . However, it does not have DVD RAM compatible playback.
A word of warning, this DVD player has a scart socket but does not come with a scart lead [which entailed a trip to tesco for us!].
The player works well and is simple to use [our 4 year old has no problems!]. The instructions were clear and the machine and remote seem to be fairly good quality and worth the money.
We've only had this player for a few weeks but it seems to be working well and has resisted the children's attempts to destroy it so far!
