I stumbled uppon this DVD player by chance. I was looking for a cheap DVD player and this one turned out to be the cheapest one around.

I was pleased to see that it was possible to make the player multi-regional. This gives you the choice of playing any DVD discs you want, including the newest ones from USA.

Also it was possible to remove Macrivision copyright protections enabling you to make a copy to VHS.

The big drawback is that it is not able to play CD-R (CD discs burned with your own computer). I was hoping to create own Video CDs and play them on the Samsung. Neither does it have support for MP3.

There are articles on the Net that indicate that this Samsung can be used with both CD-R and CD-RW. The recommended media to use is 'Samsung CD-R74S Silver CD-R'.
