Advantages: Sleek & unusual design. Works well. No sticking / loading issues. Price.

Disadvantages: No extra functions.

I wanted a simple DVD player for my bedroom - and because it was only going in my bedroom I really didn't want to spend a fortune. I had previously had an Alba DVD player in my room - a very very cheap one that I was really impressed with as it cost me less than £20.00, but as with many cheap products it didn't last an eternity. So, having looked on Amazon, I came across the Samsung DVD H1080 Player - and have to admit that the reason I predominantly chose it is because I liked how it looked. The Samsung DVD H1080 Player cost me £44.99 from Amazon and that included postage and packaging.

When the device arrived, it had everything in it that I needed for immediate set up and use. I didn't need to buy any cables separately - or even have to buy any batteries for the remote control. Setting it up was very simple and the instructions that were included were easy to follow for anyone who is not technically minded. It did come with a years warranty, but on Amazon you could opt to increase this to 3 years for around £10.00 (although I didn't take this option).

The DVD looks snazzy and it looks different to the typical oblong design of most DVD players. The is instead a curved design and it oval shaped and looks like something a little more space age or something that you might make a toasted sandwich in! It was entirely black with all lettering / logos in white so that the contrast makes it really stand out. It looks very sleek and sexy and it's one of the best designs I've seen to date. It's also not very big so it doesn't take up loads of room and can just be slotted somewhere quite unobtrusively.

The DVD player works well and I have nothing to complain about. The disk slots in the front of the player and inserts and ejects smoothly. Loading is never a problem and I've not had any problem with discs sticking - something which was an issue occasionally with my Alba DVD player. It is simple to use with all of the usual functions of play, stop, pause, fast forward and rewind. The remote control works well and the device is very responsive to it as long as there is nothing blocking the direction between the control and the DVD player. It doesn't do anything fancy and so if you want something that does extra things other than just play the DVD then this isn't for you - but for my purposes it's just perfect.

Overall, I can recommend this DVD player for anyone who wants something that looks a bit more modern and who just wants a simple DVD player. It was a good buy.
