I have this dvd player and i think its great. It was quite cheap, when i bought it it was around £150. I looks simple and basically it is. Its not complicated to use and therefore i feel that after 5 minutes anyone would be comfortable using it. The remote is also just as simple. This is mainly because it is not overrun with features that you will never use. It obviously plays dvds but it also will allow you to play music cd's and has a dolby digital or dts output (which i dont use anyway). It has features on the remote such as zoom and you can also use the remote to make the picture fit your tv screen. The remote also has volume controls so that you dont need to sit with your tv remote right next to you, and you can turn subtitles on and off. There is a slow motion feature which is always good for a laugh, or spotting the mistakes in films. You can program the DVD to play tracks or chapters in a certain order. I don't really see why you would do this with movies but you can use it for playing music CD's. This DVD player also has a really good feature where you can view the first 3 seconds of all the chapters at once so you can find where you want to start watching from easily. It shows up to 9 chapters on the screen at once. Some DVD's will allow you to watch scenes from different angles and you can view them using this DVD player. A feature that is useful for people with children in the house is the Parental Control settings. The DVD player has 8 levels for parental controls with 1 being 'kids safe' and 8 being 'adult'. You can set a password to prevent adult material being viewed without the password. One feature that i find useful is that you can bookmark places on a dvd that you want to return to later, and as long as you dont take the dvd out, you can return to these places without having to rewind back. Also you can turn the dvd player off, and whe
rever you watched up to of a dvd, it will next start playing it there. This DVD looks good as well as having loads of great features. Its not very big and its silver. The display screen fits the player perfectly. I have my dvd player hooked up to the back of my vcr using a scart cable (not included) but there is also a cable which IS provided which has 3 analog Jacks, one red, yellow and white so that you can plug these in instead. Also there is a port on the back for you to connect the DVD player up using a S-Video Jack. Overall i'm glad i bought this because it looks good, its easy to use, and it has a lot of useful features.
