Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: needs more VHS features
Note: The SV DVD 3 and Samsung v-2500 are the exact same model. Buying a DVD Never buy a DVD player that is V1600 or below. In reality, it means a piece of plastic that will last you a week and then break down. Trust me, I?ve had experience. So after my little piece of crap broke down, I ran back to Best Buy and told them that I needed a machine that has customer satisfaction, and no, not the kind that you see in the Amica commercials. The Best Buy employees pointed me towards the DVD/VCR section of the store. They told me that I could find ?great deals? on the two-in-one machines. This means that there would be one system with both a DVD player and a VCR player. Of course, I had to be the weak one and I ended up buying the most expensive machine, the Samsung DVD-V2500 DVD/VCR player. Yes, $259 for this player while the average for the other machines ranged from $159-$239. Getting Started The first and foremost step is to connect the antenna/cable to the DVD-VCR. To do this, connect an external indoor/outdoor antenna or wall outlet antenna cable to the Ant-In jack on the rear panel of DVD-2500. The second step is to connect the DVD-VCR to the tv. You can either use the RF Connection or the Line Connection. The third step is to plug in the DVD-VCR. Connect the DVD-VCR power cord to a wall outlet (standard 120V). Don?t press any buttons on the machine or remote during the set up. Then the machine will do it?s own ?Auto? procedure so let it do its thing or else you will have to do the whole thing all over again. Take it from someone who learned the hard way. The last steps are to turn on the DVD-VCR (either with the remote or the buttons on the machine), turn on the tv, and then set the tv to channel 3,4, or Line. You will know if you are doing it right because a blue screen will come on that will say ?Digitall.? This means that you are in good shape and ready to go! Ba
sic Operation Opening the disk tray to insert the DVD is easy and simple. Press the open/close button, put the DVD on the small wheel, and close the tray by pressing the open/close button. See? Simple! From this point, press the Play button twice to play to DVD. There are also other features that you can access by pressing the Play button once to select the main menu. Special Features On Main Menu These special features on the main menu include... Scene Selections Theme Song Music Video Video Clips When going to Scene Selections, you can start the movie at a different scene instead of having to rewind and fast-foward every time you stop the movie. There is one scene selection for every 5-10 minutes of the movie. When going to Theme Song Music Video, you can watch the music video of the theme song of the movie. Every movie has a theme song. 007 Die Another Day has the theme song ?Die Another Day? by Madonna. When 007 Die Another Day comes out on DVD, when clicking ?Theme Song Music Video?, the music video will be of Madonna?s Die Another Day song. When going to Video Clips, you can see cut out or edited scenes from the movie. There is also a way to change the language of the movie, but that includes going through the system setup when first installing the machine. Memory Stick The Memory Stick acts just like a floppy disk for a computer. You can add data from the computer and insert it into the DVD, but it stores a lot more than you think! The Memory Stick also allows you to make slide shows. Picture Quality The DVD/VCR-V2500 helps the picture quality of the television while using the machine. I find the picture quality to be quite a bit better than my television?s usual picture quality. However, it is not complete high quality as there may be some blotches on the screen from time to time. However, sometimes the picture quality is crystal clear, or pure. <
br> Ease Of Use I think that the DVD/VCR-V2500 is pretty easy to use. The instructions manual walks you through every process and really helps you figure out how to use the machine. Without the instructions manual, it is still easy to use. Remote The DVD/VCR player comes with a (free) stylin? silver remote. The remote has these buttons: Power Zoom Number Buttons 0-9 100+ Memory Stick Volume +/ - 3D Sound Record Setup Enter Title Speed Screen Fit Subtitle Timer Shuttle Dial Jog Dial Input Cel Disc Menu Mark Search Of course, there are also your everyday Fast Forward, Rewind, and Stop buttons. About Samsung Samsung is known to make high quality electronics. It is considered identical to Sony, but it only has a different name. Samsung makes DVDs, VCRs, discmans, walkmans, MP3 players, stereos, radios, and televisions. Overall Thoughts I am quite impressed with the Samsung DVD/VCR-V2500 for its high quality and ease of use. I recommend that you buy it because it is an excellent invention to have a DVD and VCR in one machine. Samsung DVD/VCR-V2500 - Did You Have Your Stylin? Machine Today?
