Advantages: Its plays DVD's and Video's !

Disadvantages: You can't seperate them

Having just purchased a new Panasonic TX 32PL1 I decided it was also high time to upgrade are old JVC video player to a DVD player. However having an extensive collection of video's I was also on the hunt for a VCR. It wasn't until I entered the electronics store that I discovered that you could get both as a combo set.

---Price---

I feel the price is well balanced (at approx £195)as if you were to get the two machines seperate it could probably add another £10-20 to your bill.

---Disadvantages---

There are two main disadvantages here. One is not being able to watch video's in one room and DVD's in the other (although I suspect you can get a special adaptor for it) as it would be nice to seperate and rejoin the video and DVD at your leisure depending on what you want to watch. The second disadvantage is the possibility of a breakage, while hopefully unlikely, in a similar vein to the washer/dryer scenario if one part goes you can't use it at all.

---Advantages---

If your not just interested in watching movies this device also comes with a JPEG picture viewer , CD-R/RW & MP3 music playback and Simultaneous Record & Playback which is nice. Reduces space taken up as its two for the space of one.

---Overall Analysis---

In total consideration I have had this product for 2 months and so far there has been no problems which I have encountered playing just videos and DVD's. However I have only used the CD-R/RW which seems alright, but I have not had any experience with its other features (MP3 playback and simultaneous record and playback) as I use my PC which does the job well so I can not properly recommend it for those particular items.
