Advantages: Small enough to fit into your coat.

Disadvantages: Doesn't cost £500

This player came out last summer. At the time it was the lightest, snazziest and best-performing portable DVD player available on the planet. This player has outstanding performance and is slim enough to fit into the pocket of your jacket without ruining it. The player has a 7" screen which i think is big enough for any portable, but it doesn't stop there, the screen of a very good quality with the picture quality being way above average. The clarity is superb.
It also supports DTS, but you'll need a decent surround sound system if you want to test it out. The player has light compression software which means that it plays DVD faster without picture skipping.
I have used this player on the train and it budge, even if knocked. With bright sunlight on the screen you can still watch the movies, it doesn't really effect it.
You can also play CD's on this, plug in your headphones and your away! You can smooth scan to get to the best bet in the film. At the bottom right of the player there is a cool section circle with arrows on it for secting and movement, without this nesat touch you would be lost. The build of the player is top quality and would take many knocks before it packed in, which i would hope it wouldn't do anyway. The finish on this product is also very good, it looks as though it's worth it's weight in gold!
I say if you want a player and don't mind paying £1200, then buy this one, for the money it's the best on the market.
