When I started looking for a DVD player a year ago (April 2000), I was looking for a slimline, robust, high quality player that would not break the bank. That is exactly what I found with the Sony DVP-S335.

As soon as I laid eyes on it in the store I knew I had to have it. After discussions with the sales assistant and a quick demo the credit card came straight out! I was so impressed with the quality.

I was only worried about one thing - will the quality be as good on a bog standard 15" TV? Yes, oh yes it was! I didn't realise such a crappy TV could display such fantastic quality images! I really was pleased with my purchase.

This DVD player however is not multi-region so you wouldn't be able to play DVD's from abroad (America, Japan etc). Many suppliers who stock this product however, place a mod-chip in it which you allows you to swap between the different DVD regions (as mine was). I paid an extra £80 for this feature which I think is well worth it.

It also has VES (Virtually Enhanced Surround) so if you haven't got round to purchasing any surround sound speakers, it tries it's best to make it sound as if you have!

To summarise - an excellent, robust DVD player with superb picture quality, easy to access and attractive menu sytem, great remote control and a gorgeous slimline appearance. Highly recommended.
