Admittedly i have high standards so take opinions below as you wish:

The Sony certainly looks the part and i was as taken in as anyone but the relative merits of this player only became apparent on watching The Mummy.

Although the picture is much better than the first generation of players it still suffers from a lack of detail and contrast in dark regions. That said it handles the sand grains in The Mummy very well producing a very stable, watchable image. The images are watchable if not quite up to cinematic quality. If you have a projector spend more - much more!

The sound can only be described as typical (which means quite good). It has a warm balance but does struggle with dialogue in loud passages.

Good value but perfectionists or gadget freaks may want more.
