If that isn't surround sound I don't know what is? Being a Sony it is a well made piece of equipment designed to last. The remote control is very easy to understand with a simple layout. Premium Review Sony DVP S 336: Entry level DVD that looks good. (468 words)

This player is an entry level DVD player costing around £280. It can play DVDs and audio CDs with the usually features you would expect from todays DVD players, smooth scan and menu setup, but it doesn't have Dolby's 5.1 surround sound circuitry. This player incorporates Virtual Enhanced Sound which is gives you surround sound using just two speakers most modern TV sets have. It also has outputs for 2+1 surround sound using left, right and a subwoofer centre speaker. There is also a Digital Out that connects to a 5.1 surround sound amplifier and if your TV has 5.1 surround sound the DVD player uses that to create surround sound. The DVp-S366 is a sleek stylish DVD player finshed in silver to match the Wega tv range. Setting is up for playback was very easy with S-VHS and Scart connections. The picture quality is very sharp, and the on screen display makes navigating DVDs and configuring the sound very easy. The unit does not have a Dolby Digital decoder built in but its is easy to connect to a DD amplifier eg Yamaha DSP5 using a coax cable. It is excellent value for money and is well worth paying the extra £40 to get it converted to multiregion. Well done Sony! ...  Read the complete review
