We got a Sony DVD 725 at Christmas. At first I was sceptical - after all we had a video and a CD player what did we need one of these for. Well I'm now converted.

The picture quality is excellent, you have no background noise at all and the sound quality is brilliant. The stereo effects are especially good - I've even looked outside once to see if anyone was on out lawn because i could hear voices !

If you need to leave the room you can freeze the frame and it holds the scene perfectly and can sit like that for hours not doing any damage unlike a videotape. You sometimes get different endings and extra footage on DVD's - some of the best ones have a director?s commentary where they explain why and how they did things.

The remote control for this model is like the Starship enterprise and should keep most men happy for weeks! (And it lights up in the dark so you can find it)

The display on the front it easy to read and understand and the manual that comes with it is excellent
