Sony DVP S7700 ... honeycomb configuration and cast-iron isolating feet. The audio section gets its own circuit board of rigid glass epoxy to resist distortions. An R-Core power transformer minimizes hum radiation. Unique to Sony is a smoother fast forward/reverse scan, easily manipulated via the remote jog dial. There's a circuit to reduce noise from digital video, which may be especially helpful for lower-quality DVD transfers. Component video outputs complement your high-end display. And CDs get attention from the 7700 as well, with discrete lasers for DVD and CD, and a variable analog low-pass filter optimizes cut-off frequency for wider frequency response and minimum noise.

 ... excellent. The dvds were more natural and clearer. And the colour balance was very accurate while using S Video. DTS movies come out even better, I think that is due to my Sony receiver, a 50 ES. So if you have the extra money, I’d surely recommend the receiver as well. There is no dolby processor built in and I suggest limiting the processing to your receiver. ...more

I’ve tried other units but then decided to upgrade my system to the DVP S7700. This must be the best dvd player Sony produced. I stopped using my CD player because the sound quality is excellent. The dvds were more natural and clearer. And the colour balance was very accurate while using S Video. DTS movies come out even better, I think that is due to my Sony receiver, a 50 ES.
