Sony DVP NS 735:
... DTS, Optical and Coaxial. Lets be honest, the user is spoilt for choice. The Picture in my opinion perfect. It is just as good as any other "premium" (expensive) player I have seen. It uses "Smooth Scan", it's just a made up word from Sony, but I don't care, it does the job, and it does it well. The Sound is also brilliant. It is crystal clear even without a big amp and spea... Sony DVP NS 535 ... first starting out in Home Cinema I knew relatively little in terms of the different hardware available. Rather nievely I assumed one player would be just as good as another - how wrong I was! I opted to go for the Sony 535 through neccesity more than anything else to be honest. I acquired the player around the time many players were having difficulty playing DVD's such as 'Gladiator' and 'Toy Story Ultimate Box Set'. Out of about 5 different brands of players I experimented in, this was the only player to handle these discs! Many people know the Sony brand through VCR, walkman ect. and expect a high standard of product from them - the 53... Read the full review: Ideal Player for any Home Cinema fan by Flibble |

Sony DVP 536 ... DVP 536 is basically a silver version of the popular DVP 535. I personally opted for this model as I thought it suited my current setup better than a black player, and I find the finish makes it look very distinguished. Coming from a large brand like Sony, and costing £330 (June 2000) you expect it to be able to deliver a quality experience and have enough features to warrent paying the extra price. Socket wise, it doesn't disappoint - as well as the standard CoAx and Optical outputs for decoding Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks, the Sony also has an onboard Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder, meaning those of us with ProLogic amps can enjoy the full 5.1 soundtrack wit...
