Advantages: Cheap, Simple, Quality

Disadvantages: No onboard Dolby Digital Decoder, Remote is not the best.

This player is the replacement for the great SD2109 and all that has changed is the colour and remote control, and I think the change actually makes this player worse.

The colour change is not a problem but the remote is smaller and has less buttons. Instead more is done through menus. Some people like this but myself I prefer to just press a button rather than searching through layers and layers of menus to just zoom in.

But apart from the above this player is every bit as good as the 2109. The picture is just as sharp ranking up with the £350 players and the sound is good weather it be from the stereo output or the digital bitstreem (optical or coaxial).

And the best bit about this player is that it just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. The 2109 started off at £400 but fell to about £200 at the end of it's life but now you can grab the SD100 for about £190 highstreet of £180 online.

This player is a great buy if you are after a standard player with no frills. It sticks to the basics, Sound and Picture and Toshiba do this well. A great bargain but I still prefer the 2109.
