Advantages: Value for money, Excellent playback, Its a tosh!

Disadvantages: Not multi-region, Not recordable

The Toshiba SD100E was the second DVD player I have bought and in my opinion for the price it is the DADDY! For the price you can not get a better DVD player, it is a well known brand and it was at the time under £200 normally in this price range you would get a make you have never heard off.
The main reason I bought the SD100E was the fact that it had been in ‘WHICH’ magazine as their months-star buy and for the price as well who was I to complain.

When I got it home and hooked it up which was very easy, all I needed to do was scart it to the TV I immediately played The Matrix, which I had problems playing on my previous player. The playback quality was excellent which is the reason you buy a DVD but the one thing that impressed me with the Toshiba was the ability to pause and zoom and move the picture around. In the scene where Keanu Reeves is dodging the bullets, get your remote and select pause and zoom. You can zoom straight in on the bullet flying towards the screen, with crystal clarity!

The remote is small and easy to use and all the functions are on the remote the actual front of the DVD is left alone when it comes to controls, but who wants to kneel down to use the controls anyway; very functional and in silver looks good.
The DVD has all the usual features you would expect, it has DTS, digital surround sound, zoom and pause functions also on discs which support it has a multi angle option.

The beauty of the SD100E however is it is upgrade-able. If you wish to have it upgraded to be able to play all regions of DVD. You just need to buy the chip for about £30 and put it in, either by yourself or get someone to do it for you.
