This player is the replacement for the great SD2109 and all that has changed is the colour and remote control, and I think the change actually makes this player worse. Just entered the DVD market and bought the SD100. Picture and sound quality is excellent. No blocking seen yet on any of the DVDs watched so far. Easily upgradeable sound system (for when your cash allows). Mine's running through standard SCART lead to TV but could move up to digital then Dolby DTS when I can afford to upgrade. ... I bought this drive as an upgrade package with a Hollywwod+ mpeg card. The DVD give good results as a DVD reader and CD reader. The Toshiba SD100E is simply a cracking piece of kit. Intended as a replacement for the 2107 the new player is of the silver variety rather than the cheap looking black plastic.
