The only thing better than getting your first DVD player is getting your second one - ‘cos now you’ve got something to compare it to! My first player was a Limit (no, I’d never heard of them, either) as recommended by Richer Sounds. It fitted my budget of £200, so I took it home. It did the job very well until ... The Toshiba SD100E was the second DVD player I have bought and in my opinion for the price it is the DADDY! For the price you can not get a better DVD player, it is a well known brand and it was at the time under £200 normally in this price range you would get a make you have never heard off. The main reason I bought the SD100E was ... Read the complete review

I bought a SD100E from Richer Sounds for £199.00. It's a chipped one and plays all discs I've tried including RCE using instructions they give you when you buy it. As a DVD player it is marvellous. My only criticism is that is all it does. Sounds churlish perhaps, but a lot of other DVD players, even at a ... Read the complete review

I am not really a hardware or home cinema obsessive - I wanted to be able to watch DVDs because I love movies, and had seen some releases like 'Bridge on the River Kwai' and 'Spartacus' available that I had only ever watched on television, in pan and scan. I bought this just before Christmas from Dixons (it was ... Read the complete review

When a mate of mine decided too upgrade his DVD player I thought Santa had come early as he offered me the SD-100EB for £100. I have not been disapointed with the picture quality or the sound. Both knock spots off the old video. It is very sleek and has a lovely silver finish. The machine is very quiet and has quite a number of ... Read the complete review

This player is the replacement for the great SD2109 and all that has changed is the colour and remote control, and I think the change actually makes this player worse. The colour change is not a problem but the remote is smaller and has less buttons. Instead more is done through menus. Some people like this but myself I prefer ... Read the complete review

The picture quality on this unit is stunning, the sound through a dolby pro-logic tv is amongst the best I have heard. A few features which were not a selling point to me have turned out to be a godsend, the best in my opinion is the feature which boosts the quieter sounds giving a more even soundscape, those which were extremely quiet ... I bought my Toshiba SD100E from Richer Sounds about a month ago and have not been disappointed. I bought a chipped multi-region model and have not had any problems with any of the disks (both region 1 and region 2) that I have tried so far. Although as this is my first player I don't have much to compare it to, the picture ... Read the complete review

Just entered the DVD market and bought the SD100. Picture and sound quality is excellent. No blocking seen yet on any of the DVDs watched so far. Easily upgradeable sound system (for when your cash allows). Mine's running through standard SCART lead to TV but could move up to digital then Dolby DTS when I can afford to upgrade. ... I bought this drive as an upgrade package with a Hollywwod+ mpeg card. The DVD give good results as a DVD reader and CD reader. I am able to watch high quality movies with all the added bonuses of using a PC. My poor mate got a DVD player instead and is missing out big time. The drive is very stable and very fast. As I have not had it ... Read the complete review

The Toshiba SD100E is simply a cracking piece of kit. Intended as a replacement for the 2107 the new player is of the silver variety rather than the cheap looking black plastic. The picture quality is sharp and crisp, and I have yet to see any artefacts on any of the DVD's I have watched. It has Dolby Digital and DTS capabilities ... Read the complete review
