Toshiba SD 2010
Advantages: Picture, sound quality, USB Port
Disadvantages: Slight tray noise.
Recently I had been looking for a new DVD Player after my old Wharfedale started playing up so when my Dad asked me what I'd like for Christmas I sent him an amazon link of DVD Players, I mentioned a Panasonic one and this one and when I opened the box on Christmas Day it was the Toshiba he had bought for me. I had owned an excellent Toshiba DVD Player some years ago which served me well so I was pleased with the make. I had bought a few new DVDs in the last months of 2011 but as my Wharfedale was playing up I hadn't watched most of them, well now I could and as this player is easily hacked for multi region capability It is ideal for anyone who regularly buys films and other dvds online. This DVD player has plenty of viewing options with component video output, coaxial output, two channel audio output and 1 Scart connection included.
**IN THE BOX
Unfortunately this Player doesn't come with a scart lead but it does come with the manual and a pair of AAA Batteries which slip into the supplied remote which is small and compact. You can get a decent scart lead for just a couple of quid now so if you need an extra one then just add it to your basket when buying the Player. This player can be multi region hacked but the code you will need is not included in the box but you can find it easily on the internet by doing a google search for "Toshiba 2010 multi region" and you should find several links which will give you the code and how to enter it on your DVD Player.
I was really impressed with the Picture that the Toshiba SD2010 gives. I have watched a few films on it now and each has been more impressive looking than on the similarly priced Wharfedale that I had. colours look good and fast movement is dealt with very well. It's good for films via dvd or from the excellent usb port which you can view divx files and pictures from digital cameras or suitable mobile phones and usb memory sticks and of course you can also play your mp3 files this way if you have them on the suitable usb format. This DVD Player has a Picture that looks as good as a more expensive player and that is thanks to the quality of Toshiba.
As well as looking good, This Player also sounds good. There's not as much fun in watching a great picture if the sound isn't suitably up to scratch. The sounds is great with movies and music so whether you have a big Blockbuster in the tray or a Concert then if hooked up to a decent system the resulting Sound should be enjoyed. explosions are dealt with very well and dialogue is also very good which is another plus compared to similar priced players as that is one of the biggest drawbacks of a cheaper player. The mp3 files via the usb port will sound very good and you can also play CDs pretty well although not quite as well as a dedicated CD Player it will produce a decent sound quality hooked up.
This DVD Player is a very very good product which is widely available and is at a great price. You can find it for around £25-£30 which for me is a bargain as the quality of the player is similar to one costing twice as much. The addition of the usb port is another plus and is rarer in a cheaper dvd player. If you are looking for a replacement DVD Player or have a Blu Ray and may want to have a DVD Player in a bedroom or second room then this is ideal and will last well. An excellent product which has no major gripes. The only mark on it is the tray makes a sound but it's not that bad and is only when ejecting and closing so no real issue there. This is a fantastic DVD Player.
Summary: Great Value.
