We bought this DVD player six years ago, at a cost of £100, and have never had a single problem with it so it has proved very reliable and good value for money. Both picture and sound quality are excellent even on our less than modern tv! As far as I can remember there was no problem setting it up, but it was a long time ago, and we have had no need to fiddle around with it since as it just gets on and does its job quietly without complaining!
The remote control is laid out in a clear and logical way making it very easy to use. You also have all the required buttons clearly labelled on the front of the machine, rather than just stop and play that you seem to get on some machines, ideal for those times when you just can't find the remote anywhere!
It has an attractive enough design, but is less slimline than more modern versions.
This is simply a superb DVD player. For less than £100, back in the days when a good multiregion DVD player cost a lot more than that, I've had several years of trouble-free viewing.
The picture is sharp and clear, and the sounds really hit the spot. It has additional ports at the rear for connections to more advanced speaker or home cinema options for best results, though the quality that comes though a normal TV with the SCART socket is hard to fault.
The menus are very easy to navigate, with various picture and sound output options to ensure you get the best possible results. The CD playback is fine, though it could do with an MP3 capability to bring it up to date.
The design is sleek and stylish, and setup, as with most audio-visual equipment these days, is almost too easy, so I don't have any comments on the instruction manual, as I've never actually read it. An easy to operate remote control completes a great product.
Studio quality sound and images, plus a wealth of extra 'information' on a CD-sized disc, DVD will revolutionize your TV viewing. Toshiba's range has something for everyone, from the experienced home cinema audiophile to the surround sound novice.
