The Toshiba SD 480 upscales normal DVDs into a much better format that can be watched on a HD ready TV, it is an alternative to the blu-ray and HD dvd players out there, and allows people to keep their current DVD collections and still watch them all in HD. The quality of the player is very good, it plays many movies in a much better quality, the only trouble that I have had so far has been with blacks on the player, which often come out in a fuzzy and distorted focus.
