Toshiba SD 420:
... I'd had a DVD player on my PC for two years, and then came the timeto splash out. But splash out on a Sony model I couldn't, not after just ending my student days! While searching on Amazon I came across the highly-regarded and award winning entry-level Toshiba SD 220 for just over £100, but was disappointed it didn't have the connections for a Dolby 5.1 home cinema system. So, I searched for... Read the full review: An affair with Toshiba... by DaftScotsLass |

Toshiba SD 220 ... through Amazon Electronics for a DVD player back in late November, the Toshiba SD220 caught my eye for two reasons: it was a multi-region model and it was very cheap (£120 including VAT and delivery and came with three free DVDs). Do note however: 1) Not all Toshiba SD220(E & EB) models are region-free. 2) Toshiba only started making a selection of these drives region-free during the third quarter of 2002 and only for selected stores. 3) Amazon and Richer Sounds are the only stores I know selling the region-free version of this player (although clearly there are others). 4) Certain aspects of this review will be relevant to the region-free version only. ... Toshiba SD 220 ... DVD Player is fantastic. The picture is clear and sharp even to the finest details. I have mine connected to my hi-fi so the sound is fantastic. There's nothing like sitting in front of the TV watching a film and being able to feel the sound through the floor. The initial installation is basic and the set and remote are really simple to control. The only thing that lets it down slightly is the MP3 playback. There is a strict set of rules for MP3 playback like the type of CDR you use and the naming convention of the filename. If you don't adhere to these rules then the MP3s won't play on your set. There are some other players that are more lenient. ... Read the full review: A top quality DVD Player at a great price by andynet |

Toshiba SD 100 ... playback but I am happy to say I have never experienced any negative viewing in hundereds of films viewed, and having three children it is used most days. Superb picture quality, sound and features. Easy to use and in my 18 months of use have never had one problem with it. It is about the same size as most other DVD players out there and as far as I know only available in Silver finish. Toshiba's player are not possible to be made multi region by a remote control sequence but instead require a hardware modification. Most places now sell it already made multiregion for you and just add a small amount onto the sale price. I made mine multi region myself ...
