Wharfedale DVD M5
by SUNNYGSX Wharfedale M5 DVD Player Or Is It ???? I don't think theres many people out there who ever take the lid off of there Hi-Fi or DVD equipment etc when it just suddenly stops working. I was amazed when I took the lid off of my Wharfedale M5 DVD player,as for inside, they have used a standard DVD CD Rom drive from a late ... 1980's PC/Computer,which has all the same line connections, such as the power in supply/A ribbon cable marked with the red strip on the outer line & a soundcard lead to a very small soundcard motherboard. So what are you getting for your money here,a pc or a DVD player. On the main motherboard for this item, there sits a a green PC processor which looks like a old Cyrix 686 from a mid 90's PC ATX. I don,t think it would take much to repair one of these DVD players, especially if you have some PC building know how. If the main DVD drive ever went wrong,It could be easily replaced with a DVD drive from any computer shop etc & fitted in minutes. The DVD players quality is very good on the following:Picture/Sound & Controls. The casing is pretty fragile though,as it dents very easy & be very careful when cleaning it,as even home polish will remove the front fascia writing & motifs. I think in time this item will become a collectors item, like the old Philips CDi players. One more comment & abit of a down side is the jog wheel for picture frame speed advance "It Has A Mind Of Its Own" Read the complete review |

Wharfedale 750 DVD
by lotboy15011980 I bought my Wharfdale 750 from Richer sounds for ony £149.95 after my Cyber-Home ADL528 had an unfortunate encounter with a falling shelf. Why not just buy another Cyber-Home? My reason was CD playing performance. In addition to the player's excellent DVD picture and sound, it also has a very reasonable CD playback ... performance. The improvement in quality when playing CDs thorugh my mini system amp using the Wharfdale rather than the onboard CD player was amazing! This makes it an ideal purchase for somone looking to move into hi-fi separates, as it can act as an perfectly good CD player until a dedicated player can be purchased. I have also tested the Wharfdale on VCD and MP3 playback, and despite no obvious mention of it's capabilities in the manual, it can playback both VCDs and MP3s recorded on CD, a very useful feature. The remote is OK. I find it's colour scheme slighty odd, but at least it's not too bulky. My only real gripe with this player is that it seems to have a very long seek time. This means a slight pause when selecting menu items before arriving at the desired section. This pause is only slightly longer than with other players I've seen, but is slightly irritating none the less. Overall I'd say this is a great performer, in addition to the above points it can be easily set to region free with a few button presses on the remote Read the complete review |

Wharfedale DVD M5
by bubbles12 I have the day off work today, so I have decided to spend the day on dooyoo, reading, rating and maybe writing a few opinions. But I am at a blank so I have decided to write about my most prized position, my DVD player, a wharfedale M5DVD. I spend ages going around stores such as, curry’s, comet, Argos etc, looking for a ... DVD player that would play mp3’s and vcd’s as well as DVD’s. Then I finally found what I was looking for, while I was doing my weekly shopping in tesco. It was a wharfedale M5DVD, which is a multi region player that plays vcd’s, and mp3’s as well. All for the bargain price of 169.99. Although I purchased this a year ago, some tesco store are still selling it, but the price has gone up a little since I bought mine. I am one of these people who don’t have a clue how to work electronic things, but when I got this home I was pleasantly surprised, it is so easy to use and the remote control is layed out so you can understand and access the things you want to very easily. It is also quite small and very stylish. And another bonus is the buttons don’t stick. The dvd player it self, looks very nice, it is metallic silver but it can also be brought in black, it is very small and compact so it is east to place it in a small confined place with out it looking to bulky. All of the features on the wharfedale are great, and as I said before so simple to use. This particular DVD player can also be changed to a multi region player; all you have to do is download a hack code from the Internet, which is also very easy to do. A great bonus for having a multi region play is, you can but really cheap DVD’s at a fraction of the price we are paying at the moment. www.play.com is a great site to but these cheap DVD’s. So I would recommend that you go and have a look, you wont be disappointed. So for just 169.99 this DVD player is a fabulous buy, and I would defiantly recommend that you think about buying this model, if you are looking into buying a DVD player. Read the complete review |
