Toshiba RD XV45-S-TE:
... have had a Toshiba RD XV 45 DVD HDD VHS recorder. Which no longer dubs to DVD. It throws up an error message 03-56. I have contacted Toshiba helpline and their assistants not only did not recognize the error code 03-56 but did not seem to know where to look. Toshiba D-VR3 ... Reasons for purchasing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I had about 300 recorder video tapes of some key moments that I wanted to keep. Having had them stored in cardboard boxes for about 5-10 years, I was worried about the degradation of their quality so decided to invest in a dvd-recorder rather than a dvd-writing service. After some research between this and a hitachi model I opted for this. Philips DVDR3440H ... ve had a Philips DVDR 3440 H for quite some time now and it s worked alright for us. It wasn t cheap at around £150 but it s made by a good brand so we were happy to pay a little bit more for the sake of getting something we thought we could trust. The cheap ones aren t that cheap anyway at nearly £100 so we felt the extra expense was worth it for the sake of convenience and reliability. So we bought this one from Argos after looking at the various options. We could have paid slightly more for a Panasonic but didn t feel the extra expense was justified the other way either. Daewoo DRVT-40 ... you read my recent review of the Samsung LE-40R88BD you will know that along with a new TV I was also replacing the old JVC video recorder with a combi VCR/DVD recorder. The one I identified that seemed to meet my needs was a model from Daewoo, the DVRT-40, which appears only to be available from the Currys/Dixons Group, in the UK. I promised you a review so here it is. Sadly it tells a very sorry tale. I have to confess that I ve not kept up-to-date with the latest technology where TV and video is concerned.
