doctordarke2389 Philips HDR3700: ... a brand name, Phillips carries its own cachet, as well as owning a top European footie team! Seriously, the brand is an extremely well known and widely used name in terms of its fairly eclectic range of products. As such, Phillips is considered to be reliable and trustworthy by the consumer. Or, is it? In terms of the product in question, the HDR 3700 is one of those devices that may seem at first to be hard to s...

... have owned the dvdr5500 for over a year and have found it useful and without any major problems. I love the high definition upscaled picture it offers from its hdmi port - on a 42" plasma the video was noticeably better with more colour and sharper. It can also upscale input from a scart like a sky or cable box with similar effect. The playback of standard dvd is great also much better than the cheap non-branded players in my experience. The menu system is a bit slow at times but the recording it produces are great and on the right setting indistinguishable from the original. The ability to playback divx/mpeg 4 is another reason I love this recorder as the playb...

Nolly Philips DVDR3590H
... this time last year, my faithful DVD recorder (A Panasonic I had nicknamed Penelope) gave up the ghost and decided, due to no sensible reason, to refuse to read DVDs of any kind. I was heartbroken - how was I going to watch programmes I had recorded from all those obscure channels found at the other end of the satellite spectrum (like UKTV TopGear sorry, I mean Dave)? I shot off, and went to my local electrical retailer (in that order) and had a look at what I could get to replace Penelope. I was a little confused - did I want a machine that could refine Einstein s first Law of Relativity or one that could make a perfect capuccino with a combined triple salchow and la...

... itself I found this machine next to useless. This recorder has only 1 decoder in it. That means you can only record one tv channel at any one time. This really limits you as often you find two or 3 good things on all at the same time on different channels. Also if you don t have a Sony tv then half of the features on this machine don t work - most importantly you can t record something and watch any other channel. That simply doesn t work if your tv isn t Sony as well. On the upside. This has a huge memory which means you are unlikely to run out of room on the harddrive. You can easily copy items on your harddrive across to dvd and therefore either store it and...
