Finally a good DVD recorder and not so expensive (Mustek DVD R100LB)
Member Name: Mondie
Advantages: Records TV programs even when I am out using its Timer Schedule Function Disadvantages: Tendency to discipate heat, may lack internal cooling fan I have been used to record TV programs with VHS/VCR recorders but since they are now obsolete, this Mustek DVD recorder is a very good alternative. Am now able to record my favorite TV programs using its schedule timer capability, programing the time and length of TV shows I wish to record even when I am not home. Though you can only record using DVD+R and DVD+RW discs, one can still play back DVD-R and DVD-RW Video Discs. DVD Quality of recorded video seems acceptable at High Quality Mode. Down side is that the Manual lacks more instructions on the Menu but I was able to get used to the recorder with enough practice. Since my unit is quite new, hard to say much about its durability yet. I just notice the heat when touching the unit even if it is turned off, more heat if the unit is turned on. I placed a small fan near the recorder to help in cooling and hoping to increase its durability by preventing it from overheating. Every time the unit is unplugged, you should always reset to Factory Setting to allow Timer function to work properly. So far, I am happy with this Mustek DVD recorder model. Summary: A Good Buy but only time will tell if the unit is DURABLE or NOT. I hope it is.
