 ... which is a big pain in the arse. I'm sure there must be something we haven't set up properly but we followed everything in the supplied manual. We bought this with our new TV and so far have not been too impressed with the recording features of the device. So this DVD recorder should be ideal to record your programs either via FreeView using the built-in tuner or via FreeSat through our Panasonic TV. Well alas we still have not managed to get anything to automatically record any TV program. It will record programs via FreeSat or FreeView if you press record and then stop it manually after the program has finished which is a big pain in the arse. The Panasonic DMR-EX79 in essence has the same specifications as the DMR-EX769 only relevant difference is a bigger hard drive; this unit has 250GB of storage space. Other main features are, as before, DVD recording, Freeview tuner, upscaling or HD enhancement and multi-format. So what is different? Well, for a start, something Panasonic call " Intelligent Auto Standby"; means that it automatically goes into a power save mode when you go back to watching TV. A "Quick Start" function will turn this unit on/off when TV is turned on/off but only if you are using it with a compatible Panasonic TV with 2009 Viera Link.
