Nice product, but has its problems.

Advantages: Works well, designed with users in mind
Disadvantages: Ugly unit, some problems
When I purchase any Panasonic product, I expect a certain touch of quality. This recorder does not disappoint, though it does have its issues.
This useful machine can be used to view and record onto DVD or VHS. It can also be used to copy data from one format to the other internally. The machine supports DivX, JPEG and MP3 files. JPEGS can also be recorded onto DVD using this machine.
The unit can be set to record manually on the unit or from the EPG and is very simple to do. The buttons on the remote are clear and menus are easy to follow.
One of the best features is that it is possible to edit videos on the unit. Parts can be edited out, divided, combined or spliced, which is great for editing out irritating adverts and things. The unit detects changes in audio, and automatically ends a chapter and starts a new one. It usually knows when a recording contains an ad break, making it easy to skip it during playback.
Recorded picture is clear and detailed. Obviously things recorded from VHS aren't as good as those from DVD, but this is to be expected. The quality of the outcome depends on the quality of the original.
This player/ recorder does have its problems. I suspect you could buy a VCR and DVD recorder separately for a lot less money. Some of the menus, such as the setup menu, are buried deep within piles of submenus, which seems a little pointless and frustrating. Depending on what setting you have the EPG set to; it can be difficult to read the full title of programmes. It has a clumpy appearance; it's not the prettiest thing. It is not possible to change channel while recording, but this is to be expected.
Summary: A convenient combination of VCR/ DVD player and recorder
