Advantages: Quality, DVD and HDD recording, Live Pause Features
Disadvantages: No EPG or Freeview
Hadn't yet invested in a DVD recorder having sky+ but when I saw this I thought it would be perfect for transferring all my all DV tapes to DVD at last. It also includes a HDD which allows recording and the same Live TV pause, rewind and fast forward features of sky+.
The first think I love about the 3570 is its ability to play divx movies which is great for all them downloaded movie "trailers" that I have always wanted to watch on the big screen. It also contain a 4 pin firewire port for use with Digital cameras and a usb port. The usb port can be used to view divx movies from so I don't have to burn them each time. Another plus is its video editing tools, although they may not be the most advanced they allow me to cut the crap from dv tapes before moving to the computer to finish the product.
Well theres always going to be a downside to these things. It's absolutely massive so make sure you have plenty of room before purchasing. The remote is not very ergonomic for daily usage, and the menus respond very slowly even once you get used to the remote. Finally the worst and probably suicidal problem with the player. NO EPG I mean come on this has got to be a basic of a HDD recorder how can I choose what I want to record.
To make this product superb Philips simply have to add freeview and an epg for setting my recordings. But apart from that quality of video and sound is great.
Summary: Good if you dont need epg or freeview
