Advantages: The recorder, the HDD capacity, input sockets

Disadvantages: The remote controller, slow preformance

The device is fine, however it is a bit slow, menus are a bit mysterious and I don't like the remote control set of keys and the way they function. Philips really missed out the standard set of keys for standard set of tasks and their colour codes on this remote controller. Things like fast forward is not as good as it could be. It is getting really worse when you are playing a video CD.
Philips tried to put good stuff built-in like rough-cutting recorded pictures.
I convinced with all sort of input, output wholes and the set is beautifully designed. I have captured some pictures via FireWire. It isn't that easy to figure out how to do things when you start, but thing are getting smoother as you learn how to deal.
The DVD recorder is awesome. The job is really straight forward. I give it 3 stars.

Summary: I would reconsider to alternatives, if I want to buy it now!
