This product scores high for its reliability and is dependable for recording television programmes. When recording make sure you select SEP format or else you will soon use up the memory. There is very little difference in picture and sound quality between the different recording mode so use the one that uses the least memory. The integration between the freeview and the recording facilities do provide good integration rather than having to set up timings which can get a bit complicated. If the tv is running behind schedule it can mean the recording is slightly misplaced. If you record to the hard drive do be aware that if you wish to dub the programme onto a DVD it takes as long as the recorded programme which is not very handy in certain situations. When switching between a recording format and the DVD the toggle button changes automatically, you can change this manually either on the machine or with the remote. There is nothing out of the ordinary in regard to playing a DVD. Do be beware that is does not play all types of CD's. The remote control has an interesting set up with all to do with recording in a slide down pouch at the bottom of the remote and playing at the top.
The freview set up is quite similar to the SKY set up in that there is a list downwards of all the television programmes that are on offer and the schedule listing sideways for each channel. Do ensure the aerial cable is secure as this will affect the number television and radio stations the machine will be able to find.
