Unlike Sky+ where there is only one box to choose from (well, technically two if you include Sky+ HD ), Freeview+ can be accessed by a wide variety of set top boxes made by a number of manufacturers, as long as they display the Freeview+ logo on the front. One such device is the Sony RDR-HXD995 which currently costs £269.99 from Amazon. 	Sony RDR-GX210/S ... was the first DVD recorder I ever purchased and did so based partly on the brand name, Sony, and partly on the features of the machine. It is fully compatible with all other electronic devices including VHS machines, AV receivers (such as Freeview boxes, top-up tv boxes etc). I have the device connected to my digital television via a Freeview box so I can record programs playing on the Freeview box whilst watching another channel on my television. The machine is silver and is quite large, sitting about 2 1/2 inches high on slightly raised legs. It is about 17 inches wide across the front. 	Sony RDR-HX980 ... those of us who miss the old days of having a VCR that we could record programs while away from the house, or tape your favorite game of the week, this unit brings all that back. There are some really good features of the Sony RDR-HX980 DVD Recorder in this regard. It also has provisions for music management through USB or CD s via traditional CD s or MP3. With the 250 GB Hard Drive of memory (HDD), it also elimates the cumbersome necessity for storage on disc, or as in the past, video tape.
