Terrible Must Read (Toshiba DR-150)
Member Name: gunnerz
Advantages: Good sound Disadvantages: Terrible at playing and recording I had this item for over a week before I had to return it. This was my 1st experience with DVD recorders and Toshiba in general and it wasn't any good at all. Firstly it takes over two minutes for the player to recognize what sort of disc has been inserted before it turns off and decides to keep the disc inside unless you open the cover and slid the tray out to retrieve it. Once the player does recognize the disc it takes another minute to actually start playing the disc. If it does start playing then unless you decide to pause or fast forward the disc then the DVD will play with no problems. When it comes to recording then the player is even worse. Although it takes less time to recognize a DVD-RAM disc the fact that the best recording quality is on-par with the quality of a VHS but only offers an hour per disc defeats the point that the product had set out which was to replace the VCR recorder. On the good side the player has a suprisingly decent sound quality output which is actually on-par with my new DVD recorder which I have also reviewed. Overall avoid this player like the plague unless you want a cheap CD player. Summary: Avoid this model
