Toshiba RD XS25
Advantages: large HDD
Disadvantages: no tunner
I bought this DVD recorder about a year ago and so far it has working pretty well. It's easy to install and setup and works well with a set top box.
The main advantage is the hard disk drive where all the video recordings could be stored until you watched them or burned them to a DVD. This was hugely appealing as it negated the need to buy DVDs to use for everyday recording.
I use it to record tv programmes while i'm out. It is able to record to the HDD or to a DVD R/RW. Overall recording and playback quality is good although it doesn't have a built in tuner so it's not possible to record one channel and watch another.
It comes with a 160gb HDD so it has plenty of storage for everyday use but isn't designed for long term storage.
Burning (or dubbing) to a DVD from the HDD is fairly quick if you have recorded in LP format but very slow if you have used SP.
Overall till I get Sky + this is a good recorder and still meets my everyday needs
Summary: Overall Good DVD/HDD recorder
