Wharfdale dvd recorder, very good value for money
Member Name: BELkids135
Advantages: dvd recorder with built in freeview
Disadvantages: colour choice would've been better and remote bit complicated
This dvd recorder is worth is money and then some!
I've had this machine since christmas and I am more than pleased with it.
Its and dvd player / recorder with upscale and its got built in freeview to boot!
Looking at it, its asthetically pleasing, its black (would've been even better in silver but hey ho, can't have everything) and has silver buttons.
The stand by button when its on has a bright blue glow to signify that it is actually on stand by. Next to that sre the control buttons, small round record button in the centre and four other ones that form an outer circle. They are the play / pause, stop, forward/skip and backward/skip.
Also has the eject situated next to the dvd drawer.
The remote control is essential with this machine for the freeview aspect as you can't change channels with the buttons on the machine itself, which is a shame.
Also the remote control itself is a grey colour which is confusing as it doesn't really look like it matches the unit.
Now the remoter control looks like a very complicated thing, as it is, with no exageration, covered from top to near bottom with buttons.
Its got every button you could think of needing. Its got stand by and dvd drawer eject at the very top, tons of buttons i don't think I will ever use, channel up and down, volume up and down, dvd controls and freeview controls.
It did take me quite a while to figure out how to get the freeview program guide up, I think I pressed nearly every button just to find out which did what, and some of them have a double use when used with another button, as I said VERY confusing. Might not have been so bad if I had read the instructions properly.
I have recorded on this a couple of time and I have to say it is much easier to do using the remote than to use the machine itself.
Its a quiet machine too, I have had a couple that hum quite loudly either when they are just on or when they are playing a dvd.
I paid just under £50 for this and I am totally impressed. I know Wharfdale are a good make for the audio equipment, well it seems like thats not all they're good for!
Summary: Very happy with the quality of machine and would buy again.
