Their peace is disrupted when a yuppie family, the Deetzs, buy their house. The Maitlands are too nice and harmless as ghosts and all their efforts to scare the Deetzs away were unsuccessful. They eventually turn to another ghost 'Beetlejuice' for help... Hilarious and dark this is one family film that isn't just for kids.

... hell (neat twist there) then you can tell it is successful in doing so. The problem is that the Maitlands are just useless at being scary and this where the hero Beetlejuice comes in. The starring role and indeed the film stealer goes to Michael Keaton who seems to capture this type of role perfectly. Keaton appears practically born to play this role. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary or with wonderfully freaky visuals then you can't get better than movies by a directed caled Tim Burton. This guy si 100% consistent in giving us movies which are a little off the wall and wacky, and which are delightfully viewing because of that. Ok, its not simple, but it is definitely bizarre. A young couple find themselves all of a sudden very...dead. Perturbed by this fact they also find that months have past and that their house is ...

Beetlejuice is an awe-inspiring, wonderfully amusing, film that explores the possibilities of the after-life and the boundaries of the absurd. Telling the tale of a recently dead married couple that suddenly gets led into the chaotic world of the supernatural. The storyline is kind of a twist of the kids bedtime story 'Rumplestiltskin' but captured on film. Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) discover many of the conflicting rather human imperfections that haunt the lives of the living also plague the afterlife as well. It takes them a while to figure out that they're dead (from a car crash), and even longer to realize ...
