A Better Tomorrow, the film which cemented the reputation of John Woo as a first class action director and launched Chow Yun Fat to superstardom, as well as reinvigorating the flagging career of Ti Lung, is a Hong Kong gangster thriller with a considerable reputation, a reputation that is thoroughly deserved. Mark and Ho are two successful gangsters who have worked in tandem for some time.
