Whilst Mcnab helped in the producing of this film (filmed in an african desert), it just doesn't seem to do the book or the men of the patrol justice. Basically the film is a true story of an SAS patrol behind Iraqi lines in the gulf war. If you want to know more of events read my review of the book, or of another book called The One That Got Away by Chris Ryan, which I have also reviewed. The narration of the book was a good idea, but there was more needed. Their just is no indication of time used, the film makes the whole event of this SAS patrol escape attempt seem to have taken about 2 or 3 days, when in fact it took over a week for most. The ...

What’s the movie about? Bravo Two Zero was produced by the BBC and shown on British TV in 1998. It is a true story set in the early days of the Gulf War (Iraq 1991) and retells the story of an 8 man SAS squad behind enemy lines; their mission was to destroy Iraqi scud missiles launchers and also to cut communication lines. Very quickly their position becomes compromised and they are set back further by equipment failure and bad weather. Deciding to abort their mission they have to fight numerous running battles with a much larger Iraqi army before they can reach the border to safety. Thanks to blokes like Andy Mcnab, making the Gulf war as terrorfying as possible for the Iraqis by tear arsing it across the desert with little more than a couple of grenades and a sharpened toothbrush, the vast majority of us never had to experience it at first hand. Only six of the original eight who went out a patrol as Bravo two zero managed to make it out alive, their mission was to disable Iraqi communications. They might have managed to wreak havok behind enemy lines, quite possibly making Saddam Hussain sick up his cornflakes in fear and wish he was back in his mothers lap, but what thanks did they get on returning home?
