Bridget Jones 2: The Edge of Reason (DVD)

Bridget Jones 2: The Edge of Reason (DVD) ... released 03 July, 2006 at Universal Pictures Video / Features of the DVD: Anamorphic, PAL / Although it's been three years since we last saw Bridget (Renée Zellweger), only a few weeks have passed in her world. She is, as you'll remember, no longer a "singleton," having snagged stuffy but gallant Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) at the end of the 2001 film. Now she's fallen deeply in love and out of her neurotic mind with paranoia: Is Mark cheating on her with that slim, bright young thing from the law office? Will the reappearance of dashing cad Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) further spell the end of her self-confidence when they're shoved off to Thailand together for a TV travel story? If such questions also seem pressing to you, this sequel will be fairly painless, but you shouldn't expect anything fresh. Director Beeban Kidron and her screenwriters--all four of them!--are content to sink matters into slapstick, with chunky Zellweger (who's unflatteringly photographed) the literal butt of all jokes. Though the star still has her charms, and some of Bridget's social gaffes are amusing, the film is mired in low comedy--a sequence in a Thai women's prison is more offensive than outrageous--with only Grant's rakish mischief to pull it out of the swamp. --Steve Wiecking

... none of the magic that I remembered from the first one and the characters just bored me. The only redeeming feature in the movie was Hugh Grant, who's character Daniel Cleaver is just amazing to watch. He is such a horrible guy in so many ways and I always feel Hugh Grant portrays guys you love to hate better than well to do English toffs with stutters and bad hair. The rest of the cast didn't set the film alight and the story seems a lot more incredible and less believable. This is a film that they should not ha...more

Premium Review Bridget Jones 2: The Edge of Reason (DVD): A Romantic and Hilarious Film (289 words)

A very funny film, which I enjoyed immensely. This is more of a woman's film with it's romantic feel to it and it has every day comedy in it. Brigdet Jones The Edge of Reason is appealing for every woman that needs a boost in their romantic life. The comedy makes it more exciting to watch too. It's an interesting female kind of film that you can make you weep towards the end. This film is at times funny, romantic, serious, witty and sad. In my opinion, this is a great combination for a film. Poor Bridget Jones is at that point in her life and now needs someone to be with and love. She can't decide who that is and leaps into a personal battle with ...

At the end of the last film, thirty-something Bridget had found her man, Mark Darcy, a human rights lawyer (in case she hasn't mentioned it) and that's where we find her at the beginning of this - still in new relationship bliss. Unfortunately, Bridget doesn't have the knack of staying trouble-free for very long, and after a disastrous dinner party and ski trip from hell, she finally comes to the conclusion that she and Mark aren't meant to be. Luckily her job, a presenter for a TV programme, seems to be going well and there is a trip to Thailand - the only problem is that she has to go with her ex-boyfriend, love-cheat Daniel Cleaver, who is now working for the same ...

“Take me to the edge of reason, tell me that my loves forgiven”, or was it to the edge of heaven? Anyway, just another feeble attempt to grab your attention as most people just skim through to the last few lines and leave a fluffy comment. Now that I have hopefully done that, let the show commence. It was a toss up, the football or BJ. The edge of reason, and I lost the toss. Mainly because I won the toss but the stare I got told me I had lost it even if it was heads and I said heads, but I am not bitter! For those who have not seen the first BJ movie, fear not as I do not spoil movies nor give the plot away. Anyway, this movie carries ...
