Carry On Constable (DVD)

This was one of the very early Carry On films as it was shot in black and white, it is also probably one of the least funny ones as well and never really gets off the ground. Due to a severe out break of flu all of the local police officers are laid low so some new recruits who have not finished training are sent out on the beat with the usual comic outcomes. Leslie Phillips plays the same character that he always plays, a womaniser while Kenneth Williams performs well within himself as the pompous idiot of a trainee. Cast List Sid James ... I guess I must be getting old. Many of my most recent reviews have been about some of the comedy films that were around in my childhood and youth. I suppose that's because, especially at this time of year, they are always doing the rounds on television. Carry on Constable is another of those films from the early ones in the Carry On series of Comedy films. It is filmed in black and white, which means it is relatively easy to guess, roughly, when it was filmed and released.
