That these first three segments blend with the new ones perfectly, to the point that you couldn't tell they were shot earlier, is a testament to the skill of Jarmush. I really wanted to like Coffee And Cigarettes. The initial signs were good too. From the three initial shorts (which I'll discuss shortly), two were good, and the other at least had a quirky charm. The cast assembled was one of the strangest that I had seen, which led to an increased interest. It seemed like Coffee And Cigarettes was shaping it up to be one of the hip new indie films of recent times. I was rather saddened to discover that this wasn't the case.
