In 1974 Hammer wrapped up it’s Frankenstein franchise with the little gothic gem that was ‘Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell’. The title screams excess, but Hammer instead deliver a subtle little dark fairytale, one that was lost on audiences at the time and continues to polarise horror fan opinion now. Disregarding the execrable ‘Horror of Frankenstein’, Terence Fisher continues his take on the Frankenstein legend, making this a direct sequel to the barnstorming ‘...Must be Destroyed’. Curiously out of step with Hammer’s last gasp efforts to find niche markets and gimmicks to secure distribution, ‘...Monster from Hell’ is pure gothic horror, and rooted ...
