... the hockey mask wearing psycho is to cryogenically freeze him and send him into space. Of course this all goes horribly wrong resulting in many a gruesome death upon his accidental arousal. Packed with humour, such as when Jason, believing himself to be back at Camp Crystal Lake picks up a camper in her sleeping bag and uses her as a weapon to beat her friand to death with. With special features such as 'jump to a death scene' for when your feeling morbid, this is a fun film not to be taken too seriously. A must see for...more

Premium Review Jason X (DVD): X-cruciating! (822 words)
by l-m-n-o-p - written on 13/08/07 (Very useful, 128 readings)
Rating:

Jason X is the tenth instalment (see what they did there?) of the Friday 13th franchise, which by general consensus has been getting worse and worse. Considering the original wasn’t that great to start with, you can see why it’s been over ten years since the 9th film. However, in 2001, Jason Vorhees returned. With knobs on. This film opens in the year 2009, and Jason Vorhees is being held in some kind of Crystal Lake laboratory, ready to be cryogenically frozen, in order to stop him from killing. Opening with a sequence set in the not too distant future, unstoppable killer Jason Vorhees is being held captive by a group of scientists at the Crystal Lake Research Facility. They've discovered that Jason has an unheard of ability to regenerate skin tissue, therefore explaining his inability to die. However, when he escapes, he and one remaining scientist are criogenically frozen for 300 years. Once aboard a spaceship of potential victims in the 25th century, Jason unleashes carnage on a new spate of big breasted beauty's. When they attempt to defeat him once again, Jason is revitalised by a machine that turns human's into almighty cyborgs, and so ...

by plipplop - written on 15/02/07 (Very useful, 118 readings)
Rating:

You have a cult horror franchise on your hands with a seemingly limitless demand for new movies featuring the anti-hero Jason Voorhees. After nine chapters of stalking and slashing, the old “idea pool” is running rather dry, but there’s money to be made out there, so what do you do? Answer: you set things in the future on the premise that anything goes. Enter: Jason X Over 400 years into the future, a team of student scientists comes across a derelict building, within which they find an ancient cryogenic suspension chamber. Inside the chamber, they find the preserved bodies of a young woman and hideous figure wearing only a hockey mask. ...
