I'm kind of amazed at how a lot of people seem to rate this dvd quite highly. I've been into dvd for over two years now and I've seen the format grow and grow. We are now gettign to a point where it's taking over VHS and films are getting great treatments. Jaws is one of the most well known films over the globe. Whenever it's on TV you are inclined to watch it as it's that damn good. You always know when Bruce the shark is going to pop out of the water and when the head will roll out of the boat but you still jump. Also the death of Quint is always a nasty experience. Just when you thought it was safe to assume that Steven Spielberg was going to keep Jaws as another of his films that never make it to DVD…it arrives and is just as good as we can all remember it. In 1964, Peter Benchley wrote a book about a killer shark. He got the idea after a huge Great White shark was caught just off the shores of Long Island. When Steven Speilberg read the book in 1973, he commissioned Benchley to write the screen play for the movie. Along with another writer and actor, Carl Gottlieb, they came up with script for 'Jaws'. Many of you saw this on the big screen, way back in 1975, and many have seen it on numerous occasions since, on video and TV. It has become 'cult viewing'. Now it's back!
