During the days when I was back at College we used to get free periods are what others probably now know as slacking off time. Anyway it was one of these free periods that me and several of my friends decided we may as well go to the cinema and catch a movie. At the time if I recall correctly there was not too much to choose from. I think Lake Placid and Hannibal were both showing and I will admit I opted for Lake Placid. In the wonderful world of movies there is such a thing as a ‘vanity project’. These are films that are only made to satisfy a director or star who is more often than not bidding for Oscar glory. ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ is such a project created by writer/director/ God (no, hang on, that’s Alanis Morrisette!) Kevin Smith. It’s not a normal vanity project though-it’s made purely for his fans rather than himself. Ever sat there after watching Mallrats and wonder who the hell Suzanne was. Well here's you're answer, or for people who aren't big Kevin Smith fans, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The film starts off on the same day as Clerks Kevin Smith's debut, ultra low budget, black and white flick. Jay and Silent Bob are hanging outside the store selling pot to young kids when Randall (Jeff Anderson, the video store clerk from clerks) moans at them. To get revenge Jay tells the kids that Randall and Dante (Brian O'Halloran from Clerks) are married. This is the final straw for Randall and he gets a restraining order on them.
