Schwarzenegger is a disgraced former FBI agent who winds up as sheriff of a backwater Southern town. He is given a chance to reclaim his job when the head of the Bureau offers him reinstatement if he'll go undercover to capture the mob boss responsible for killing his son. Schwarzenegger must get close enough to gain the trust of the gangster without being discovered as a mole, while gathering enough evidence to take him down. One of Schwarzenegger's early films, in which he honed his persona, Raw Deal offers up the usual quotient of gun battles and tough talk, with a trace of self-deprecating humour from its star, making it reasonably worthwhile entertainment. --Robert Lane

... ensues is a series of bloody incidents where Arnie takes on a seemingly neverending amount of gansters singlehandedly - with predictable results. This is an action packed movie which is watchable at least for an hour or so but will not exercise those brain cells too much. Visually it still looks a little dated these days with good guys and bad running around in 80s leather and denim like rejects from Wham. ...need I say more? Raw Deal is one of Arnold Schwarzenneger's early offerings and there is really very little originality about it at all. The plot goes something like this: The local mafia organization are doing away with anyone who stands in their way on the witness stand. The police have their hands tied because there is no way that they can convict without witnesses and therefore they enlist the help of Arnie, who is to infiltrate the gang and take them down from the inside out.
