I started shaving just over a year ago. I began with a razor and shaving cream and continued with this, with varying results, until Christmas last year when I was bought this by a family member.
The first thing I did with the shave was charge it, well... try to charge it. The charging adapter is nearly impossible to put into the shaver - it goes in at a strange angle and needs to be wedged in to fit. However, once I did this, the shaver charged up very fast and I was able to use it only about an hour later on full charge.
After I prised the adapter back out of the product, I began shaving. I only had short hair to shave and the Remington handled it perfectly. It gave me a far better shave than anything I had before - partly because of low quality blades and lack of experience with a wet shave. The fact that I got instant results from this shaver shows how easy it is even fro the most novice users. Occasionally the shaver struggles to get some hairs no matter how long I try for and this can be a slight issue, but for the majority of the time my face turns out hair free.
Following my shave I cleaned up the shaver a bit, although I have nothing to compare it to, the shaver appeared to be very easy to clean, the foils come off and the little brush supplied with the shaver easily lifts out any hair on the blades and around the device.
When my hair grows a little longer, I am able to use the trimming tool on the back to initially take care of the long strand and then finish off with the standard blades. The trimming tool is also perfect for removing sideburns and stray hairs which attempt to form a mono-brow.
The design of the switches on the shaver are not ideal. When putting the shaver away I have accidentally switched it on by mistake multiple times when the power switch gets knocked. The switch to release the trimmer on the back has also been caught sometimes whilst shaving and I get a mild heart attack when the far noisier trimming blades start oscillating a couple of millimetres from my ear!
The build quality of the shaver is fair. Although robust, the shaver does feel a little cheap and plasticy.
The low price of this shaver makes it ideal as a Christmas present, as mine was, as it will not break the bank to purchase.
If you chose to buy this product, you would not be disappointed as it will do the job as expected, you will just have to put up with a few inconveniences from time to time.
