Advantages: really does work
Disadvantages: brush heads are expensive
I bought a Braun Electric Toothbrush when my dentist was selling them cheap. (never one to pass up on a bargain me!!). I had changed dentists because my previous dentist was, to put it bluntly rubbish. I had been with him for about 3 years and had left his surgery several times in tears. My new dentist (we shall call him Saviour from now on) commented on how bad the tartar was on my teeth. He had a little camera to show me and it was disgusting!! So I bought the plaque remover (along with some sensodyne toothpaste) and went home. When you first open the box you need to put the brush on charge - this usually takes around 3 hours to ensure it is done fully. Then off you go!! It is important to let the brush do the work for you - it rotates at approximatley 2400 rpm. Don't try to press on too hard or you'll end up wearing your gums away which is more trouble than its worth. Also try to angle the brush at 45 degrees to your gumline, this will ensure that the brush cleans away plaque just below your gumline where it causes the most trouble. Remeber to do all four sides of your teeth if possible and spend at least 3 minutes doing all your teeth. Well after using the Braun plaque remover for about 3 months I had no tartar whatsoever, (with a little bit of help from the hygenist!). It really does keep plaque at bay. Once charged it lasts about 2 months before you need to recharge it - which is brilliant. The brush heads are designed to clean below the gum line and have a built in wear indicator - when the bristles turn white it's time to change it. One minus point is that the replacement heads cost a fortune - £6.00 for 2. When these need changing every 3 months, it is expensive. I could never go back to a conventional toothbrush now - too much hard work!! I shall be buying one for Charlotte soon (as soon as shes mastered brushing normally) So, a very good brush which
cuts down on nasty scraping by hygenists - ah heaven!!
