Advantages: Very effective, good price, easy/good to use

Disadvantages: none

I've never been a great dentist fan, but go I must and usually its for treatment: fillings, a scale and polish etc. whatever it is the one thing I'm always aware of is how clean my mouth feels after a visit. If I had to sum up the Braun Oral-B I would say it always leaves you with that proper clean mouth feeling. I have never been the most fastidious of teeth brushers, although I brush my teeth everyday I often only did it the once and then it probably wasn't as thourough as it should have been.
The thing with the Oral-B is it activly encourages you to brush properly. It does this firstly in the manner in which it works, the brush head which is circular, oscillates (spins back and forth) and also pulsates (in and out) to give a very effective brushing action. The head/handle also contains a mechanism for cutting out the pulsations if too much pressure is applied while brushing thus preventing gum damage.
The Oral-B also contains a 2 minute timer (the minimum time recommended for teth brushing), which works by interupting the brushing action briefly to let you know it's been 2 mins, the effect of which is you tend to keep brushing till that stutter says its 2 minutes. The average time a person brushes their teeth is between 30secs and about 1 min 15 secs, so the better action plus the longer time doing it results in a great result for your teeth. My last visit to my dentist was the first time I had ever not needed any treatment and my dentist commented on my improved condition of not only my teeth but my gums too.
This is a very comfortable brush to use being a nice weight and well balanced so won't make your arm tired, and has a non-slip cover. You can use it for up to two weeks from a full charge.
It comes with a combined stand/charger/brushhead storage unit which is clever because it doesn't have any electrical contacts for charging, how this works I've no idea but it does. The holder can store three additional heads
, all of which can be fitted with little coloured rings to identify individual ones for different people in your family.
As you use it the colour of the brush head bristles fades to let you know when to put a new brush head on. (it comes with three heads), a bit like my ex-wife.
Although a very effective tool it does not affect any exsisting dental work. It is recommended that you do not use tooth polish with this product because although tooth polish is very similar to toothpaste it is more abrasive and used in conjunction with an electric brush could damage tyhe enamel on your teeth. After using this though you wont need to use polish.
As time goes on the heads begin to sound rattly but it doesn't affect the performance at all.
This is a brilliant thing to have and almost makes looking after your teeth a pleasure. (almost!).
I'm not sure what the current price is for these, I got mine from Index in a sale, but well worth £25 or so.
